Handler was born in New York City, to secular Jewish[1] [ii] parents Enid Irene, a mental health ambassador, and Murry Raymond Handler, an agency owner and advertizement designer.[iii] He was raised in the Town of Cortlandt, New York, near Croton-on-Hudson, New York, and attended Hendrick Hudson High School in Montrose, New York.[3]

Evan married Elisa Atti, an Italian-built-in pharmacist, in 2003, and they accept a girl, Sofia Clementina Handler (born Jan 17, 2007).

Handler has a brother Lowell and a sister Lillian. Lowell Handler, a writer and photographer, is the writer of the book Twitch & Shout: A Touretter's Tale [10] and the star, narrator, and acquaintance producer of the Emmy-nominated PBS television documentary Twitch & Shout, in which Evan appeared.[xi]

Activism [edit]

In 2014 Handler starred in a public service announcement supporting DC Statehood.[12] He attended the Artistic Coalition'due south "DC Statehood Dinner" in December 2015[13] and participates in DC Shadow Senator Paul Strauss' "51 Stars" entrada which aims to enlist 51 celebrities to endorse making Washington, DC the 51st country.[14]
